Had our 2D 1N camp at OBS (Pulau Ubin). My 1st time there…
Gilian and CPL (Puay Leng)…
DAY 1
Bkfast buffet provided… GD Welfare!
There’s a total of 29 young recruits like me =) Almost 50% is from SDE.
Had some ice breakers in a learning room after that…
We were divided into 2 groups- The BAOS & F1.
Played a very interesting game shown below.
Each team member was supposed to have one finger placed under the hula hoop. The aim is to lower the hula hoop from our chest to the groud level within 15min. I tell you, IT’S NOT EASY!!!! Initially I tot 1min would be more than enuf to perform that task. I WAS WRONG! We took almost 15min to complete the task successfully. You SHOULD try this in a group.
While doing it, instead of lowering the hula hoop, u will somehow feel the hula hoop going up n up, or left and right. And and….your finger must be in contact wif it.
It’s FUN and all about strategy, concentration and teamwork!
Later in the afternoon, we went outdoors and into the jungle for some games… LOTZ of mosquitoes and we were spraying ourselves with the anti-mos repellant now and then…They’re so irritating….
In the jungle, we were supposed to be blind-folded and find a designated tree from a starting point. A pity we did not complete the task within an hr. Some of us were too distracted by the discomfort (hot hOT HOT)and the mosquitoes. eh…I’m one of them…NOT focus enuf…
Returned to the dorm ard 6pm…Forgot to take a pic of our bung. Quite clean, not as bad as I thought.
Back in the learning room after our shower and dinner…Feeling fresh and clean again!
My group members-F1
Min Jeong, Jac, Zhen Rong & Ester from F1.
The 4 musketeers in F1 (from left to right)
Dennis, Zhen Rong, Ah Guo (team leader) and Patrick.
My 2 new F1 friends- Ester and Mei Feng
Lena & Ruixia
Peiying and Xueying
Kody- A very sweet and nice lady from CCK BO. Nice to know her. We gave her a nickname (xiao ding dang) during the camp as she had almost everything that we needed.
Two groups were required to put up a skit based on a story line. Everyone was involved enthusiastically and that made our night entertaining and fun. Max was practically the joker in our camp. Too engrossed till I forgot to snap some pics. What a waste!!!
Before our nite ended, we had to come up with a proposal for our rafting mission for DAY2.
In order to build our raft, we had to “buy” the equipment from our facilitators. In order to buy from them, we had to earn “ubin money” by playing their games on DAY 2.
Our financial team~They’ve to plan what are the games we’ve to play and the credits we can earn to buy our equipment.
The raft construction team…
The flat design team~including me =)
Ester is really a gd artist.
Our end product =)
Our HDB logo with the 5 core shared values~ Care, Learning, Innovation, Quality & Teamwork. Can you guess what do the different symbols and colours mean?
Ended our discussion ard 11pm. I slept rather early to prepare for DAY 2. Din realli zz well and sub-consciously, I’ll always wake up now n then.
DAY 2
It started raining very heavily early in the morning….
Luckily, most of our games were played indoors. We were split into 2 teams -physical and strategy. I dun wan to use my brains so I’m part of the physical team. The games were fun and really made us sweat.
Too bad it was still raining in the late morning, if not we wld have played the flying fox.
Height elements were not included in our programme.
With our powers combined, we earned enuf credits to “buy” the equipment for our raft. Initially, I told myself I’ll not want go out to the sea as I did not want to get myself wet.
In the end,I CHANGED my mind & I’m glad I’ve made the right decision. I’m one of the 16 pple who went out to the sea. The experience was unforgettable. Definitely feeling a sense of achievement when everyone played a part in making this raft mission possible. I LOVE IT. Weet ah weet…
Alamak no pics taken for our raft..my camera was in the dorm =(
Some gp pics b4 we break for camp…No more gloomy sky in the early afternn and the heat was unbearable…
All of us received our OBS certs =p
